Wiseco or JE Piston

Which piston would be best for me to go with since i'm putting the 416 kit in. I don't race, mostly sand/gravel pits and trail ride.

And why is there so much of a price difference between the JE and Wiseco for example here:

yeah but that piston is for stock bore on the cylinder correct?

No that kit is for a 416 87mm kit. Stock bore is 85mm. I would take je over wiseco anyday.

Oh and if you want to run 93 premium go with up to a 11:1 bore.

JE and Wiseco are owned by the same parent company; they share a lot of their best practices, so neither one is "way better" than the other. I've had very good luck with Wiseco in both two and four stroke engines. The reliability factor really comes down to if you did your homework and put it together correctly. I beat the crap out of my 416 and it's never been towed back to camp!!

Actually there is a pretty big difference between a 10:1 Je Piston and a Wiseco 11:1 piston. Wiseco has issues with its compression ratio. There 11:1 is more like a je 10:1. The dome on the wiseco is closer to stock, while the je and ross pistons have more of a arch in there domes making up for compression. And you have to mess with different gaskets when using a wiseco.

I'm pretty sure the CR discrepancy was only with the flat top 89mm (440) piston. My 87mm 11:1 piston was nearly dead on according to all of the measurements I took during assembly using XR gaskets. Obviously there is a big difference between 11:1 and 12:1, but quality for quality, both are excellent. In defense of the 440 kit, if you build it correctly and do the necessary machine work, you'll get a better, cooler running engine with a flat top piston vs. domed.

The JE Piston is 10.8:1
You need the thin Cometic gasket kit to get it to 11:1.

That's how I have mine set up and it works great. I was impressed with the quality of the piston kit and the attention to detail in the instructions and build sheet.
JE is top notch for sure, and worth the extra IMO.

Oh, and I recommend calling Colby at CD for the piston as opposed to ordering it on eBay.

He can get you close if not match the price and will be there to help you after the fact.
He's a great guy with tons of knowledge, made me a great deal on a 416 piston/gasket/cylinder kit and was there to offer advice I needed when putting it back together.

c&d charge $120 for the je kit thats cheaper then i have seen any were else
