swingarm welded wrong?

when i was adjusting the chain i noticed that the axle looked a little farther spaced back on the left side than on the right so i thought maybe the awing arm or frame was bent but the frame croos measues straight so when i mesured the swingarm from the pivot tube straight back on each side the mounting holes for the axle carrier the left side was about a 1/4 inch longer than my right side measurement so this leads me to think it was welded wrong at the factory has anyone else had this problem? Its an`05 viper 90.
