It fails to mention that you also have to compress or squeeze the rear clutch to give more slack to the CVT belt. This helps the front plates/pulleys mount correctly together when replacing the nut.

Method 2 (the simplest): Some models come with a ring between the CVT plates in stead of a grooved boss, just remove the ring and...your done!

Obviously there is a throttle restrictor and exhaust restrictor...removing the CVT boss restrictor seems to give the most improvement. IMO...
