I keep hearing people say that dales have a lot of problems but nobody says what type of problems. Could you guys give me a list on the types of problems canondale is having. I have a Duncan 440ex which I race dezert with and I am thinking of getting a new quad for next year. Im not sure what to get (canondale speed, raptor, suzuki, predator)

I have had my cannibal since February. Except for a bad gasket which was replaced under warranty I have had no problems with mine. Except for the one I cause. Tree stump at 30mph and the only thing I bent was the steering stem.

Just skip to the 11th paragraph, Cannondale wins in the desert.

JUST DO THE MAINTINENCE BY THE BOOK AND YOU SHOULD'NT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS THAT YOU DON'T CAUSE YOURSELF!!!

All add that the late 02' and all 03' are doing great!

I have an early 02 Cannibal and my problems so far have been a leaking coolant resevoir (I caused that by over tightening one of the bolts and it cracked the resevoir) and a fouled plug when I first got it (I caused that by starting and stopping my quad a lot in a short period of time).
Any other problems.... oh wait, I"ve had absolutely none besides those and those 2 were my own fault.
Hmmm... I sure did buy an unreliable quad
.
The people that say they have LOTS of problems are the non-cdale owners or the ones that don't take care of their stuff.
Early 02 Cannibal, I give it he// on the MX track, and still no problems.

Dude, Go for the Glamis. Its in there new 03' line up. It has all the nut of the speed, but its made for the desert riding. C-Dales are great, there isn't even anything to consider.

I have an early 02' but I just got it. It had only a couple hours on it and looks showroom new. Still had the first tank of gas in it. I knew the guy. But anyway, other than the round pipe splitting ( GuyLT250 pointed out), is there anything else I should worry about? Mudding? Water over the battery? How deep of what could I go in?

Jeff@TQS said that he was doing some pretty deep creek crossings and was riding in the rain/mud last weekend with no problems on his Blaze. I talked to another guy that crossed a creek about a foot deep and didn't have any trouble until he got home to do an oil change and he said it looked like he sucked in some muddy water through a vent line or something. You'll just have to ride and find out!

You can go as deep as any other sport quad. There was one spot last weekend that was over my tires. Make sure all up dates are done. See www.cannondale.com to get a list of the updates.

Jeff,
What updates should I do to an early 02' Speed?

You need to match your vin number with the technical and service bullitens on the dale web site.
