so i bought a 26mm carb for my 04' 250ex off ebay, turns out the intake side is 26mm so is my stock carb. so now i have two identical carbs. the piston valve is 20mm which i now believe is how honda measures. the forum suggest using a 26 or 27mm carb from an ATC 200 deos anyone have the physical demensions of the carb so i can purchase the proper size. i have a full HMF exhaust and K&N filter with no lid do you think persuing a larger carb will help?

A bigger carb will help any 250. the more mods you have, the bigger the gains.

Keep in mind that a carb inlet doesn't just reflect the size, but also the venturi (the passage inside the carb).obviously if the passage inside the carb is bigger than the one inside the stock carb, it's going to flow more air.

The stock carb is what honda refers to as "22mm piston-valve".

A stock 200x carb is 24mm. a XR200 carb is 26mm. the DG carb for both of those is i believe 27mm.

as far as i know, yes. the piston valve term as far as i know just means that the air intake is going into the combustion chamber via the intake valve.
