Alright I have an '87 250x and I love it. It's a great quad for around my area but I really want to buy a new quad that I can take with my buddies anywhere and was wondering what 400 is the best. I really like the z400 and 400ex but can't choose. Which is the best.

they both are good but the Z400 has more power

I've had both and try to give unbiased opinions. The Z has a slight acceleration edge, but they seem to be more maintenance than an EX. Just about every ride with my Z something came loose or broke. I do have an 03', the newer ones a bit better with the chain adjustment and frames. It's more a personal preference thing. Sit on both and see what feels better. You can probably also get an EX a little cheaper than a Z nowadays as well. Both are very nice quads though. Good luck with whatever you get.

agreed, both are great and you will be happy with either one.

look around and see what is available in your area, they are so close it would come down to what you can find the best deal on.

if you where happy with the 250x I would stick with the honda.

The chain adjustment on mine is terrible. One of the four bolts that are on top of the swingarm broke and the adjustment bolt broke too. Suzuki did a crappy job designing the chain adjustment. Sure its easy to use but the bolts and stuff dont hold up.

I love my Z but I have to say this is true. The chain adjuster sucks. I had problems with my 06. Last year.

Definately true. Th3 03' Z is one tiny step better than my 87' quadzilla was. With the two studs in the back. I've had to drill and retap them at least 4 times since new.

stop over tourqing the bolts and they wont snap i have had an 03 since new and now an 07 and never had a problem with those bolts and if you properly maintain your quad things wont come lose every time you ride. now between the ex and z depending on what year you get the ex doesnt have reverse witch is very handy on trails and the z is a dual cam water cooled engin that makes more power the ex is a little less tippy then the z but if you are a bigger person the z may fit you better and the z has much better suspension

i agree with jay, i had the bolts and all stripped out and jacked up when i bought it and since ive replaced them all have had no problems with it, minus the fact that i havent had my chain tight enough to begin with,,,
