Hey wondering if i can use my maxima chain guard as a lube for cables and other stuff. Think it would work or no?

i've used it to lube cables and just spraying on some of the joints. the only thing i don't like is it makes a mess and really captures the dirt. it works good though and it's not a degreaser like wd-40.
