What to do with a '89 Mojave

So I have this 1989 Mojave 250 that's been sitting behind my garage for years now. Its had at least 6 owners through its life and no title. It was brought here by a friend of mine with all intentions of fixing it up. Well he is a cheap arse and hasn't put one dime in it. It needs...exhaust cam, chain, calipers, pads, axle bearings, front shocks and front tires to be ridden. It also has something wrong with the reverse lever, I have no idea about that one. Now the guy has been in debt to me for auto repairs ($600+) I have done for him in the past, so by rights I'm keeping it. Now should I sell it out right, part it out or fix and keep it? All I know is if it sits any longer it may grow roots and be a permanent addition to my back 40.

ill give you 100 for it i could get it soon to im close to you

Cant do it for $100, that's what just the rear shock goes for on eBay.

In all honesty I need to get out of it what the guy owes me for parts/labor.

Maybe I'll part it out...I'll get some pics of it posted up for a better opinion.

i might be interested if its not in bad condition. my dad really needs a quad and he has always liked mojaves.

Dont expect to make 600 bucks off a 20 yr old quad with a poor re-sale value to begin with, and to top it off that does not run.

well i would give 600 for a mojave i would have to check it out first.. are you able to take pics of it? and email them to me? pm me!

Here is what I have to work with. All the plastics are in the shed and are in rather good condition for the year.

I was looking at some replacement parts for it on eBay yesterday. From what I found it would cost under $200 for all the parts to make it a reliable trail bike.

Hell ya man Strip it down to frame and spend a few bucks on some rattle can paint paint it all up and fix it up and ride the piss out of it! its auctually not in that bad of shape!

Keep It!!!! This Is How Mine Looked! They Are One Heck Of A Trail Quad! You'll Be happy If Ya Keep It. Trust Me.

Yep, I'm keeping it to play with.

Since its value is next to nothing I'm doing something different with it.

So I'm looking for a complete KX125 engine.

We can call it "Almost Tecate" lol

I figure that it would be fun to build/ride and not overly fast.

A nice small 125cc 2 stroke quad to rip around on.

Any opinions?

I would just do a ebuild on that motor, if you can find the parts.

You could always go blaster motor.

look over at www.cycleworksracing.net theres a guy who put a KX250 engine in a mojave frame that might help

Thanks for the link, that answers a lot of questions.

I'm surprised that the KX pipe fit without modification.
