If ya really wanna get a good opinion from somone. Talk to Kenny(400Ex127) He has had Maier Shiney, Full Bore and Stock.
From what he has told me. Go with Stock. The stockers mount the best and are nice if ya keep them nice. The fullbore was nice adn shiney and won;t break but is very soft plastic. Meaning if a stick hit it the plastic would get a gouge in it. And the maier was pretty good but didn't mount as well as stock. And seemed like it was weakers then stock.
I am not totally sure but you would have to ask Kenny.

I had Maier and stock...I ended up selling the Maier, and putting the stock plastic back on....it did not fit to my satifaction.
BTW, This was old style Maier...

I have run Maier and stock,,,,in my opinion the new Maier is just as nice as the stock plastic,,, I went with maier this time for 2 reasons,,,i wanted another color other than red\yellow, and i didnt want to have to cut my fenders!!

I've got the Maier shiny plastic on mine.. Personally, I refused to purchase their old stuff.
The new shiny plastic is a different material than the old stuff. So far mine hasn't sagged a bit & still looks great - also fit well, but I had to take some care in mounting since the holes were not pre-drilled.
Maier now uses the same process as Fullbore, but at about 1/2 the price. It's vacuum formed plastic with a shiny cap sheet.
OEM plastic is injection molded.
So far, the Maier is holding up every bit as well as my OEM plastic did.
However, if you are not looking to change colors, I'd stick with OEM plastic becuase it doesn't require any special effort to mount and it's cheaper (for a 400EX anyhow).

Check servicehonda.com
400EX OEM plastic is EXTREMELY cheap. If I remember right, you can get front and rear for about $125

I don't know if I'm just special or what, but my Maier fenders came pre-drilled. I ordered them directly from Maier. I got the new shiny fenders; got some Kawasaki Green Race Front and Rear Fenders then I topped them off with a Black Gas Tank Cover. I have only had them for about 2 or 3 weeks, but it didn't even phase them when I rolled it and they still are shiny and don't show scratches very much. I'm not positive, but the maier fenders seem thicker than stock. Keep in mind I haven't been riding much though since I came down with some mono...:grr

I have the new shiny silver maier race cut plastics, all the holes were predrilled on mine, a special mounting bracket came for the key, and its got an excellent shine and seems to be very tough. Im very pleased with it and plan to use it from now on. If you'd like to see pictures I have some of my bike heres the link. www.angelfire.com/extreme/moto400ex/photopg.html

the last 3-4 sets of plastics ive ordered for custmers from maier have all come pre-drilled, and i think its thicker then stock. I know this winter im getting the silver stuff. Ive went through 3 sets of backs, and 2 sets of fronts, stock plastics that is. Mud races are plastics worse enemies!!

I like the new stuff, but I only have the side panels, doesn't show the scratches like the stock black ones, thats for sure.
