Carburator problems on Outlaw 500

I was just riding my outlaw today on the track and noticed some throttle responce issues. At first it would accellerate cleanly to 3/4 throttle then bog down but when I let off the gas it would be O.K again. The, about 1/2 hour later it was back to normal throttle (100% good responce). Then the final straw, about 1 hour after that, the quad won't even accellerate to 1/4 throttle. You hit the gas and it just bogs and cuts out. What could this be? Also I put a twist throttle on it and just left the wire to the old thumb throttle tucked away. Is it possible that it got wet from the mud and shorted or activated the throttle protection thing it does? If this is the problem how could I correct it? Any other suggestions?
