you can kinda see how i mounted the oil cooler.

Im waitng on my cam gear and chain guides to come in. im having my 400 shock bracket made next week.. im not in a rush to get that on i want to ride it how it is to see if it made an improvement. i still have to hook up all cables and such.. what clutch cables are everyone else running for this swap?

looks pretty good so far. those are 350x lights right?

Posted by: JIMFROMTEXCO

lookin good man

thanks guys!

i run the 350x cable and bracket down the left side like the 86's and like the 250x's. its more out of the way than the 85's that go under the header. your 250x cable will probably work. the bracket is the same as the 350x too. if you run it that way, you'll have to change the clutch actuator arm in the side cover as it has a different angle to it. looks sweet

damn mine is an 85 will the 86 cable bracket bolt on to this engine? i had it hooked up with the 250x cable and it worked but there was a crap load of slack... it seemed like it had full range of motion.. another question is were the oil line mounts to the head if the engine is all assymbled before going into the frame do i still need to dent the frame? thanks, josh dragon

the bracket mounts on the left sidecover bolts just like the 250x. the clutch arms are different between the 85/86 to go with the different routing so you'd need the right one. or you could use a 250x arm as it is routed that way but it is a little shorter(less leverage).

i ground down the head of the oil line bolt so it clears the frame, no denting required. it looks like less in the pic, but theres a solid 1/8" clearance and i've ridden it for over a year and it hasn't flexed and hit. you can get on the bolt with a thin wrench. i've taken off the sidecover and didn't have to touch the bolt though.http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a18/strato-streak/000_0223.jpg?t=1175837439
