04 Z no start

I've got an 04 Z400. I took it apart, had teh motor rebuilt and now it won't start with the starter. I turn on the key and all the light come on. I can jump it with the key on by putting a screw driver across the wires on the sylonoid under the seat on the left side, but nothing from the button. I replaced the silinoid and still nothing? I lost
