Whats a tell tale sign you are running lean.

When you let off the gas it will snap, crackle, and Pop along with a backfire. Sometimes all you need to do is adjust your fuel screw. You need to figure out are you learn on your pilot curcuit or is it your main jet thats lean. If it's your pilot you can richin it by turning out the fuel screw up to 3 turns after that you will need to bump up the pilot to the next size or two.

You can tell if your header is glowing. if its in cold weather and you havn't ran it in a while and the header glows give it some time to adjust to the cold air because your valves are used to the cold air so your header will quit glowing after running it around for a while.

That is not entirely true - it glows because the metal is thin and usually people notice it when they fit a full exhaust after a stock one which is a heavier guage pipe
