Were can I get the D shaped tool needed to adjust the fuel screw on a 2005 carb. Honda wants $110 for it. Any help would be great.

I think that Dynojet offers tht tool...with their kit and seperate as well...If you are removing the carb...use tweezers and back that adjustment screw out and put a notch in it so you can use a small and I mean small screwdriver.

mac tools have them in there catalog i just bought 2 of the bits they were 1.99 each

DynoJet makes a "D" shaped fuel screw tool (part number: #DT008). The tool comes with the jet kits but, I'm fairly certain if you call them, you could order it separately.

Here's the one I got from Dynojet years ago--I assume they haven't changed:

There's not much to it. I bet one could make one from a small piece of tubing. I'm thinking about the kind of small tubing that can be found at hobby shops and some hardware stores (not HomeDept or Lowes, but maybe ACE or TrueValue). Once you find a metal tube the right diameter then you're home free. Just flatten one side a little. I wonder if a spent .22 casing or .223 casing would be the right size?

Just an idea.

I found the part number for MAC tools it isMN08-0242 it costs $1.99 but they are out of stock. Dynojet does sell them seperatly the part number again is DT-008 and they are $2.99 but was $8.00 shipping still better than the $108.00 that Honda wants for this tool. I hope this helps.

what a pain in the *** this tool is to use on the carb. it is very difficult to get the tool on and turn with your hands while the carb is in the bike. I upgraded to dynojet kit and changed out pilot jet also. Was trying to tune carb and i am having a real difficult time trying to turn the pilot screw with this tool. tomorrow I will try the notch and see if that works better.

I tried a 22 super hornet casing. I can't get it right. I called Dynojet and they are sending me one. I will use the Dynojet one as a templet to make one when it gets here.I do believe its more of a 243 now that i tried a 22/223

i was under the impression that the fcr screw wouldn't work in the 400ex carb?
if it does fit i'm ordering one tonight
it sucks when something as simple as adjusting the carb has to be so complicated.

bought an MSR fcr screw just to see and it is short. So don't do it for at least an 06 it will be waisted $15.00
If anyone has an FCR carb and wants this screw (Red anodized)
I will sell it $15 with shipping.

I have a DynoJet fuel screw tool. It took a little while to get used to. It requires 2 hands to adjust. I insert it from the left side of the quad. I use my index finger from my right hand to apply pressure to the bottom of the tool to keep it installed and I used my thumb and index finger from my left hand to turn it in or out. This should be done with the motor off to prevent accidental burns from coming in contact with cylinder head.
I have black sharpie line on one side and a red sharpie line on the other side to track how many turns out the fuel screw is as I make adjustments.

THE DEALER HAD A TOOL THAT WAS LIKE A LONG SKINNY SCREWDRIVER, BUT THE END HAD THE D BIT ON IT WITH ABOUT 2 INCHES OF THE END BEING FLEXIBLE RIGHT UNDER THE BIT. ANYONE SEEN THAT ONE, OR KNOW WHERE I CAN GET ONE??

i wonder if you could throw in a slotted fuel screw from a 2004 carb in an 05 and later model carb.

if that's possible then i would do that then get the mixture screw adjustment tool made by Motion Pro. i got the tool for mine and it's awesome. better than twisting the carb and doin it with a regular screw driver.

You can. I did it myself. The only difference is the "D" shaped head and the Straight slot head.
