Palmolive dishwashing liquid wroks very well.

Dish soap and warm water work very well....

you still have to oil it
Posted by: justfine
after you wash it you let it dry. Then you oil it and re-instal it.

I use the filter cleaner, and then the dishwashing soap. The filter cleaner works good on any filter that requires grease on the seal surface, because it cuts through it well. I don't like using gasoline because it's hard on the filter's glued seams.

I used palmolive. I'm using the maxima filter oil and that stuff just doesn't want to come off. I ended up leaving a little amount on there. Anyone else have this problem?
