'85 flywheel on a '89 250r

I know a stock '85 flywheel is lighter than a stock '89 flywheel. When I put a '85 flywheel on my '89 250r do I feel any difference? Or must I buy a Ricky Stator lightened flywheel?

If you want to save some money.....you can sand down your stock flywheel. My friend did this to his. The problem is that you can't see your timing marks anymore.
I would ask around here to see exactly how to do it though. I haven't done it myself. I don't want you to do it wrong and mess up your flywheel.

And does your friend feel any difference in accelaration?

Yeah, I know what your saying. That's why you need to do it right.
He say's that he has more bottom end power. It gets up in to the top end faster.
I'll give him a call and see how he did it. I'll get back to you as son as I can.

do it on a lathe with a live center an itl be pretty close, thas what i do. you can run an 85 flywheel on an 89 but idealy u want to use all the electronics from whatever yr flywheel u are using or you will end up with wierd problems that are almost imposible to track. itl feel like yur running lean all the time or just stutters odly or other random things... 88 and 89 are the only actuall identical ones in the electrical system i think... i a bit rusty at this stuff wilk or bee or c-leigh or someone might come along an correct me...
