picked up a 86 R a month ago, owner said it is 80 over with a new rod. it also has a fmf fatty pipe and muffler. the R has a 39mm carb off a cr500 with a 175 main, the other 2 R's i ve had one had a 36mm the other a 38mm and 165 main. both of those ran real good and had no major motor work either. would i be better off trading or buying a smaller carb instead of pulling the rest of my hair out trying to get this one dialed in.

39 pwk is a good carb just dial it in thats what i have on my R.

I dont think CR500's ever came with a PWK ... only 38mm PJ's. If it is 39mm PJ, its been bored out and if it were me... I'd ditch it for a 38mm PWK Air Stryker.

I have 39 pwk's on my 250r's. But also they have 310(really 293)pv's. Some bottom end is lost, even with the power valves. 38 a/s is the best choice for a non-pv motor.
