I'm thinking 1991.Curious about this for bearing changes.

i work at a honda dealer , tomorrow i will look up and see if they are all the same bearing part #'s. I have a laeger with a cr 500 link so i need to know myself!

91 CR500 linkage is what Mark Laeger told me to run. I know a 96 CR500 link will also work if you change out one bearing collar to 91 parts. Its the one that mounts into the link part shaped like a triangle with a thru bolt that runs thru the swingarm.

yeah id like to know too...i thought it was 96

It is the 1991 CR500 linkage.

correct!

not to hijack this thread but you guys that have the cr 500 link, whats up with the bolt that goes through the swinger and holds on the linkage? I took the nut off the bolt and tried tapping it out and it doesnt budge, so i looked at the head side, and noticed the head is like a oval carriage bolt looking head with a phillips screwdriver head in it! can anyone explain this setup to me

Thats the 91 style bolt. If it will not move it might be siezed/ or rusted stuck. On the Laeger, the bolt goes thru the swingarm with an aluminum sleeve that pushes up against the steel bearing collar/ linkage triangle. Then the bolt goes thru the rest of the swingarm, then the nut that pulls it all together. Most likley the steel bolt and steel bearing collar are rusted. Try the PB break lube or WD-40 and tourch trick. Or cut the bolt out by the aluminum sleeve/ bearing collar contact point. Or drill the bolt out and bang on it with a hammer. I hate doing this, so I anti sieze lube every bolt on my quad.

good info, so whats the idea of a screwdriver head on it? not like you could turn the bolt out?? Ill take some PB to it! All my other bolts came right out, this is the only one giving me a headache!

a reg bolt off a stock 250r linkage fill fit that spot also, the carrage type one is better if you run xc swingarm to clear the left front skid plate mount, screw driver head is just to help tighten nut for no spinning, for getting siezed rust bolts out ,ive had good luck with a pointed bit on a air chisel, thejack hammer effect drives right out

uh oh ... just put the nut back on it and walk away outacontrol

Posted by: outacontrol

the swingarm will be hacked into a few pieces before i let a silly rusty bolt kick my #*@!!!! thanks guys for the info!!

im using a 250r bolt
