right side

400 dont sound like that great of a deal to me depends on how bad the cases are that you say needs repair and how well it was maintained

Posted by: my88r

what do you think would be a good price for this motor

Posted by: danbobsR

probally more like 300

Posted by: my88r

he will take 300 but seems the cases need to be repaired and needs to be bored it will cost alot.plus 100 for shipping

from my experience with buying engines is if you can afford one that is ready to go then just spend the extra and get riding when it gets there. seems most of the "project" engines I buy end up needing more than expected, parts nickle and dime you to death sometimes but in the end you will have alot of new parts in that engine just weigh it out on what you decide. I dont know your mechanical abilities but if you can do everything your self it might be better in the end.

I wish that when I bought my motor that I had gone through it, and checked to make sure that everything on it was good. If I did that, I probably would only have ended up doing a re-sleeve, and a top end job on it. The motor blew, and now I have to replace just about everything except the cases, and the transmission parts.

i might take that motor he wants only 275 for it now plus shipping.

I would too if I was you

Case repairs are easy! We all have a buddy who can weld aluminum, and if you can operate the Fourtrax, you can also operate a grinder and a file. Get a nice machinist's edge and go to town!

To add to what superchris said, when you get the cases welded, make sure that the heat is kept to a minimum so that you don't warp the cases. Then you will just have a worthless piece of scrap aluminum.
