Does anyone have a complete list of what I need for a rolling chassis? I am starting out with a completely bare frame (not even gussted). I have a somewhat idea of what I need for a rolling chassis but im sure I am forgetting some things. Even a link would be good enough with all the parts. Would it be worth it for me to go buy a Honda repair manual for a trx 250r?

I have just got done building one piece by piece and am in the middle of building another one. If you are doing it to save money it is cheaper to buy a whole one and start from there.

i would like to buy one already done but i am the type that loves to build things from the ground up. I always wanted to customize one to my taste and saw the frame and picked it up. There is a place that is local here that has a ton of trx 250r parts so I will pick a good bit from him to get it rolling if the money gets tight.

I hope you have fun. That is the only reason why I keep building them. I have four of them in my garage right now.

awesome, all of the modded the same? Or did you set them all up different? Also how hard was it for you to find parts for them?

Frame, front/rear shocks 100, a-arms 50, spindles for front 50, hubs front and rear 80, tire/rims 150-200 used, swingarm 86 style 40, axle carrier 80, axle 40 for stock, brake hub 35, rear cog hub, tie rods icluded with a-arms, steering stem 50, and that would give you a good roller.

I have done this on ebay and thats about what I spent on all the parts. Give or take a little.

I have seen rollers with these parts sale on ebay for $800 or more. If you had a frame and got all the peices from ebay you could get all stock parts and have about 800 or so. Maybe less if you took your time and waited for good deals.

Keep in mind this is all stock and you can find them on ebay just about any time you look. Stock R part are pretty abundant and really cheap.

yo man, thanks a lot for the list! I am getting most of it aftermarket, such as shocks, axle, a-arms etc. Also will aftermarket a-arms come with new tie rods? If not, stock length tie rods will not fit will they?

they come with rods

sweet, thanks

Houser is getting rid of all their 250R parts. might try them for stuff, not sure if anythings left though. stems were $125 on ebay but they don't have any + sizes... a arms were 300 but i think they sold all them?

thanks man, i dont have any extra money to throw towards the build right now as i am in college and 99% of my money go towards that as of now. I will be able to get little misc. parts such as rear seat mount, engine mounts, etc stuff like that over the course of time I am in school then when I get out I will really be able to drop some money on it.
