i just picked up a 87 250x and was wondering what the shifting pattern is and how the reverse works. i have not had time to ride it yet, and wont for a week or 2. the guy i got it from said the first gear wasnt working, but i was thinking maybe he was trying to put it in reverse instead.

shift pattern is 1 down 4 up, and to use reverse you have to put it in nuetral, push down the red button on clutch perch pull in clutch, reach over on pull up reverse lever and let clutch out, and about first gear, for your sake i hope the guy was just stupid or this could get pretty expensive

he gave me a spare bottom end with it, he says it is good for main parts but the main bearings are shot on it. but the trans is good. i am hoping it is just him and not the bike. but i only paid 450 for it so i cant complain too much.
