well had some red electrical tape laying around the garage and decided to give it a try and it turned out great. it went on with ease and it still shines the light through red.

That's cool man. Red light doesn't dilate your pupils so you still have good night vision, and it cannot be seen from a distance. Well, true red light that is, that will prolly be more orange. But it's good when, um... running from people trying to catch you, lol. I wired up some 3 watt red LED's so I can turn off my headlights and still see when trying to be stealthy.

That looks good, just dont run at night time. It will be like the snowmobiles with red lens covers lol, people thought the head lights were brake lights
