What sized main and pilot jets are installed? Are you sure it's jetted correctly?
Posted by: bignickwaite
yea the guy i bought it from had it professionaly done.

Can you keep repeating this cycle of riding then it shuts down then you let it sit and then it starts again?
Or did it just happen once?

Do you have an air leak somewhere? about your jetting you should be running a 155 main and a 42 pilot, 160 main if you have a full exhaust.
Maybe you have bad gas or something, have you tried dumping the gas and put new in?
Maybe you have a clogged needle jet?
Fuel line clogged?
Clogged strainer in fuel tap?
Tank cap vent obstructed?
I'm getting this stuff out of my troubleshooting manual so just bare with me and the dumb questions but all that is for a no fuel flow situation.
Give me more problems maybe I can find whats going on.

does the choke keep going on?

What about your vent to the gas cap. If air is not entering the tank fast enough, it won't flow enough gas to the carb.
One time riding, I noticed my engine wasn't running quite right. Couldn't figure out exactly what the deal was until I figured out my vent was the problem. Now mine never died like yours but there was just enough obstruction of the air flow that at full throttle gas couldn't flow fast enough.

it keeps repeaing the same thing and it has a tusk gas cap not colgged jet filled the tank dont know about the needle jet fuel line is clear . i went to the honda dealership today the guy said that it sounds like its not jetted right i dont know what size jets are in it but i gotta check it out he also said i should check my plug maybe the spark is getting put out by the fuel but im gonna do that not and ill see what happens thanks ,nick

If you get the jetting numbers I could tell you exactly what to run.

alright i went to take out the sparkplug and i noticed that the coil came right off like it wasnt even attached then i went to pull the plug out and it wasnt even finger tight so i replaced the plug but the coil wire is lose aroun the spark plug and i dont know how its supposed to be attached???man im full of problems...lol

You just push the wire straight on to the spark plug.

well the coil wire doesnt fit it comes right off so i think the coil wire is wore out

Take a small screwdriver with you next time you ride. When the quad dies again, loosen the drain screw on the bottom of the carb and see if fuel comes out.
Sounds like a fuel problem to me.

mine did the same thing, i had to run it with the gas put on reserve

Are you sure you have the right plug in it? The tip should look like this (threaded):

The plug boot won't want to fit if the tip looks like this:

I could be wrong, but just throwing it out there as a possibility.

I like the exhaust plug flag. I have a similar one but, not quit that huge. I bet that thing flys all over the place when you're towing it.

bignickwaite, where in florida are you located??.......nice 400 too
Posted by: bignickwaite
i live about 20 mins west of croom springhill

why would he leave the exhuast plug in when towing? they are to prevent water from entering the exhaust when while washing...my plugs come out as soon as i am done washing them
Posted by: hornetgod13
I keep the exhaust plug installed whenever I'm not riding. I don't have the quiet core or spark arrestor installed. The plug keeps rain, bugs, and small birds from getting inside. It's just an added security measure to keep things out of the motor that don't belong.
