525 Dune setup

Posted by: eerhard09

Calds, how do the single ribbed fronts work in the sand? I bought 8 blade Haulers for the rear and was thinking of going with the Sand Star fronts (dual fin) for the added turning ability since the haulers tend to have a lot of forward push to them. What do you think, have you run Haulers on the Outlaw?

Posted by: calds650

No I have not run Hauler on the Outlaw. I am more in too riding in the dunes and making turns type of guy. Any front rib tire will help the Outlaw turn. it all depends on the type of sand you ride on for hard pack 21x7x10 will work great on soft dry sand 22x8x10 on wider front wheels ( I have 4x3 offset for my Razor Back tires)

Those rims are F'n sick!!! What are they and how are they holding up?

Posted by: X_Da_C

Tork by motorsport alloy. Not sure how they're doing. haven't had a chance to ride..I'm waiting for my first big dent/chip

Just wondering where you got the fenders for your front wheels. I would imagine they do a pretty good job of keeping the front tires from slinging stuff on you.

its for sale...

New Muzzy

Posted by: mike gp

The muzzy muffler look sweet! Does it sound loud or just a deep and throuty?

Posted by: nytfr8

If you leave out the sparky and quietcore it is pretty loud, I tried it with both the inserts and ended up just going with the sparky. Now it has more of a deep throaty sound. I am very pleased with the performance gains, it seems to have really woke up the engine, seems to pull alot harder than it did before all the way through the powerband.

Posted by: nytfr8

I need to get a new grab bar to help protect the pipe, I like the PRM Baja, do the Bajas stick out any further than the stock? If anyone has one or even any others, let me know if they would offer any more protection.

Posted by: mike gp

I like the looks of it. I took the sparky out of my stock muffler and made an aluminum tip and run with no spaky. I think it may be too loud The power is way better now. Does the muzzy stick out that muck more than stock? I would hate to back into a tree on skinny trails around here.

Posted by: nytfr8

It doesn't stick out much further than the stock, but I would just like to have a little more protection anyhow.

Posted by: mike gp

I was just on the prm web site and it looks like the baja rear is slighty longer.I live 20 min. away for them and am going to buy nerf on tuesday of next week I will check it out. I like the baja rear bar. I like there summit front bar

my new 525 'Law (finally!!!) !

Posted by: Evasiveone

So it finally came in!!!! Told ya it would be worth the wait. Wait till you can get some seat time on it, runs like Grape Ape on steroids. I am loving the handling and cornering of the 525.

For the tire size on the vapor I calibrated it with my radar gun and ended up with a setting of 1730.

Posted by: ScramblerXLE

Evasiveone,

Thanks a lot for that info!!! i still haven't wired up my speed sensor or my temp sensor... I didn't know you bought a vapor too! these things are awesome! I was wonderring if there was anyway you could post a pic of where you nounted your speed sensor? since the hub is shaped different i haven't yet decided exactly where to put it and maybe where you put it can give me some ideas? how did you mount the magnet? again, i haven't really played w/ this stuff much yet, but meant to next weekend... thanks for any more info!

Posted by: Evasiveone

The magnet bolt they send will not work on the 525. It is the wrong thread pitch so I glued the loose magnet next to it. I ended up putting the speed sensor in one of the slots in the black rock gaurd. I took a dremel and made one of the slots square to fit the sensor in, cut off the mounting wing on the sensor and epoxied it in the square spot I made. I also saw a picture where someone cut off half of the mounting wing on the sensor and put it on where the directions show. But that was on a 500 and the 525 has a lot less room in this spot on the brakes.

The temperature sensor I put on the left side hot hose. Pretty straight forward when you look at it. It is tight to get in the hose and an extra hand with a small pry helps to slip the hose over the sensor.

I'll email you a pic of the speed sensor.
