What does everyone run for gearing on the ltr? I have 18s in the rear and 20s in the front. I'm buying new sprockets and I'm not quite sure what size to get. I race motocross so the gearing will be set for that. Any recommendations?

i have 18x9's rear with 20" fronts and im running 1 down on the front sprocket and it makes a world of diffrence over stock.

fyi- your front tire size doesnt change your gearing at all...

If you are getting new sprockets i would recommend going up 3 teeth in the rear before dropping 1 in the front, you have about the same gearing change but you will extend your chain life because your chain doesn't have to go around an even smaller circle in the front. If you are racing on fast tracks go for the 3 teeth up in rear, because come on who goes 70mph on a moto track? but if your tracks are tight and supercross like i would go down 1 in front and up 1 or 2 in the rear. My set-up for next year is up 3 in the rear, i race mostly fast tracks though.

i was wondering the same thing. i would like some more power, what should i change my gearing to? i mostly ride fast tracks and indoor tight tracks. thanks

you need 2 different sets of sprockets, one set of down one tooth in front 2 up in rear(for indoor) and one set of stock front, up three in the rear(for outdoor) but if you only race a couple indoors it really isn't worth the money most people dont change their sprockets for indoor but it all depends on the cash flow.

can anyone tell me were to get the rear sprocket any website or dealer I have talked to doesn't have any listing for the rear sprockets.

We can get 36 tooth rear sprockets and should be able to get the 38 tooth rear in a few weeks. The rear sprockets are $23.50

can you get them from sidewinder?

Posted by: Colby@C&DRacing

sidewinder only sells direct

o.k. didn't know that.

anyway they show nothing for the LTR, can you get anything that is close to side winders ti-moly rear sprockets.

so far i have only been able to get alloy rears for the ltr, from sprocket specialty and rebel gear. i have several customers running the rebel gear (38 rear) sprockets for a little more than a year!

i find that most rider are looking for more bottom end ,(mx) depending on the pipe, motor work, (cams, porting, programers) and the weight of the rider and quad.

If i go to a 37 rear and stock front do you think it will make a difference at all? and will it work with my stock chain by going up 1 in the rear?

Only going 1 up in the rear isn't going to make much difference on a bike that really just needs a 13 tooth front. Ray.
