Here is a link to where it was dynoed. Notice the 3 hp gain for just taking the lid off, yet still had the same power curve as with it on, yet 3hp more. No flat spots like it was lean. Also vey nice torque numbers to.
Outlaw 525 dyno numbers

they don't look like "fastest accelerating stock quad" numbers to me.

By the way NC_700R, I saw that you were laughing on other sites about bashing the 525. That's cool and very respectable of you. I also saw that you posted the same type of post over at predowners as well. Go troll somewhere else unless you have something useful to say....

its ok he just knows that it will walk all over that 700 hes got

It might, but then again its too soon to know. We need a someone to put up one to a race against a 700 somewere. Kinda like a predatorowners vs. raptorforum shootout..........we need something to get going anyway. These avt forums are dead when it comes to rivalries. I wouldnt want to race mine unless someone has internal mods done to thier 525 so it would be as close to mod for mod as possible. Then... I would be all for it. I will travel lower TN, eastern MS, western GA, northern FL and all over AL to do this.

That thread on raptor forum about the 525 is now over 3125 views and 232 replies. Unreal, it has more views than their frequently asked question page.
It might take a while before there are going to be any 525's with the mods you have to your Raptor. We have only had them for a week.
With enough money anything can be made to be fast in a straight line. The 525 was designed to be a great trail quad with good handling right out of the box. It just happens to also be really fast in a straight line right out of the box.

I agree, thats why I posted what I did to get that out in the open. Its still squeky new(the 525) and mines modded a pretty good bit. Kinda wish I hadnt went into the engine now but ohwell lol. I still think it would be cool to have an annual predator vs raptor shootout with classes, would be some great racin for sure!

My Predator would got beat by a stock 700r everytime in the drags on dirt and pavement. I won everytime on sand. In trails the 700r never had a chance, the 700r stock suspension sucks compared to the Predator.
As for the 525 vs 700r in drags I think the 700r will probably win (by the way my 525 feels after about 5 minutes of ride time) but I bought it for harescrambles and trails and no way is the 700 even in the same league in that race.

I think the race between the 525 and Raptor 700 will be very close. I can not see either smoking the other unless one doesn't know how to ride. The 700 is a well built quad. But considering the 700 is 176cc bigger, just shows how much power the 525 has. But once out in the trails, this is where the 525 shines. Even tho the 700 is powerful, it's still not a racers choice for XC racing. Not many race them, and I have not seen one win a class race, or make the podium. Not saying it hasn't, but just haven't seen it yet. The 700 is still to tall and narrow, thus takes much more to make race ready.

The 700 is not up to par with the other quads that its compared to in the engine power vs size department mainly due to Yamaha designing and settin the engine up like they did. The cylinder head design is for torque production and with it having 9.2:1 compression, mine is what the raptor would be like if Yamaha did it up like the other quads(over 10:1 and a better cylinder head). I know now why the 700 was designed that way, mines too dang powerful for the average joe. Ive still got the stock crappy cam and theres another 3+hp there depending on what cam I go with. Then Im loosin another 2+hp at the dyno right now because of my knobbies. Its very powerful engine, but then again its 700cc with a good cylinder head and 11:1 so it should be.........

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 700 puts out more rwhp stock compared to the 525 and a stock yfz puts out more tq stock. I may be wrong again but the 700 puts out almost if not more torque stock than the 525 does hp.
@ outlaw11 thinking a stock outlaw will walk my raptor. http://www.trx450r.org/forum/index....opic=37117&st=0
scroll down to where ticeman said the 525 was 3hp/9lb/ft shy of a stock 700. There is a 1lb difference in the two quads with the advantage going to the 525. Pretty sure that extra 9lb/ft of torque can make up for that.

@ outlaw11 thinking a stock outlaw will walk my raptor. Believe what you may but my 3mod raptor was beating my buddy's built trx450.
So when are you going to enter a harescramble or Gncc race on your 700 Raptor? I believe your right in the area with more atv racing then anywhere in the world. So you have no excuse you supposidly have such a fast quad get out there and prove it. Until you get that 700raptor on a harescramble track and prove what it does, it is all just heresay from an another armchair racer setting at his computer desk.

I've seen dyno's of the 700 Raptor at about 36-37hp with knobbies and about 40 with dyno tires. The 525 makes about the same 36-37 with knobbies, so should be close to the same with dyno tires. But what hurts the Raptor, the power drops quick right after 6000-6500rpms, while the 525 keeps making power right up to 8000 rpms. So the 525 will rev quicker and carry the power longer. That's why even tho the stock Raptor has a lot more hp then the 450's, they are right there in the drag races. But with the 525 haveing the same power as the Raptor, yet rev allmost as good as the 450's, make the Outlaw a very quick quad. Yes, the Torque on the 700 is huge, but it should being a single and 176cc more. I still think it will be close, but I'm not buying it for drags, I'm buying it to rip up the woods. There I have no doubt the Outlaw will be faster.

True, the Raptor looses almost 10rwhp from 6000 to 6500 rpm. That is why when racing you short shift the crap out of em and let the torque do the work. I agree that with a rider on a 700 that knows the shift points racing a 525 with a rider knowing the shift points it will be interesting, more than likely the first one off the line is gonna win if both have equal traction.

My feelings exactly.

After about 1 hour of ride time on my 525. The better traction is what I have noticed is the best. It always has good traction in places where my Predator would spin the Outlaw just digs in and always has traction.

The IRS does pay off planting the power, but its a give and take situation- just like a solid axle rear has its disadvantages. Its all on what your willing to put up with. If the 525 was available in the Predator it would probably be my next quad for next year.....
