I think i have seen it posted before, but i couldn't find it! I've seen several 450R hoods i really like, so i was just wondering if they will fit...
I do have FULLBORE plastics, so do you think that any 400ex/450r hood will fit good on full bore plastic??
Should i even get a new hood or just put some graphics on it? Fullbores already have scoops!!

I can tell ya a 450R hood won't fit on a 400EX.
I ended up getting the 250R Maier hood to put on my 400EX when I removed the lights.

I know for a fact that 450r hoods do fit 400ex's with just a little bit of cutting. Imo they look a lot cleaner than the other hoods too. Here is a pic of my 400. It's a lot easier to install the hood on a 99-04 than the 05+ models. I have a maier race cut front fender and it mounted no problem.

It may fit your Maier race cuts, but it don't fit stocker 2003 400EX plastics.
The "nose" on the stockers is a good bit longer than what your Maiers look to be.
I ordered the 450R hood and its WAY too short - a good 4"
Sorry.

Yep I probably cut off around 3 inches from the front of my plastics when I installed it. I have installed a 450r hood onto a 99 400ex with stock plastics and the guy I got the idea from installed his hood on stock 99-04 plastics.

I didn't think to cut the nose off the stocker plastic.
Of course, I cut the stockers down so that air coming in the vent would be unobstructed to flow thru to the oil cooler / engine.
I like the 250R hood....its a throwback to my old 250R, and I like old school.

When you did yours, did you remove the entire middle of your existing plastic, so you had two separate fender halves?
ala the old 250R plastic?

These are stock '05 400EX plastics I mounted this 450R hood to.

I left about a two inch wide piece going across the middle.

I agree they fit.
I did it on my 02 400ex plastic on my 87 250x.
I didn't cut off the extra part on the front though. I kinda like the way it looks with it there.
A little trimming of the piece around the headlight part and I had it mounted and everything in about 20 mins
