well adding a stock 42mm 04-05 450r Carb seems to be a popular mod to a 400ex, but has anyone done it to a Z or a KFX? my buddy offered me a great deal. i own a 400ex. he wants me ot install a 450r carb on his KFX400 for him, in return i can have the FCR that is currently on the bike. Anyone using the 450r Carb? he will be using a stock 400ex throttle housing and a stock 450r cable. any input would be great.

z400central is the best place for this question. I know people have used this carb but with big bore kits. I don't think a carb that big will work on a stock bore. I think there is a recent thread about this right now there.

Are you going to sell the FCR?

no the FCR is gonna go on my 400ex with a 426 kit. i am running a modded stock carb now and could not pass up this deal for the fcr. i can't beat a virtually free FCR, plus i need a carb anyway for my bike. i will join Z400central and post there. i mainly wanted to know if there was anything i had to do to make it work. lik on a 400ex you have to ream the intak book a little and some space up the fuel tank and move the airbox forward about 3/4"
