ATC voltage regulator on a TRX?

In a prior post I indicated a need for a voltage regulator. Well, I have come across an ATC voltage regulator for basically free.
It is from an 86 ATC250r and my TRX250r is also an 86. Will it work? I know the plugs may be different but I can fix that issue.

I did search and did not find the answer. Sorry if I missed it.

it should, I think that plugs are the same also.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll give it a try and see what happens. The worst thing that can happen is I end up riding around in the dark.
