whats the best big bore kit for power but yet is still reasonably priced??

athena u'll never have to replace it...but unless u have cams a exhuast porting and a carb u don't want a big bore yet

look into cams and a port job also exhaust they will make a big diffrence the add bigbore..you will be happy for awhile before you will be searching for a FCR..

Ive got it ported, but anyone have a LA sleeve 440 kit? it comes with cams and i was wondering how it is?

Posted by: Zero74

don't know about the LA sleeve 440 kit but I'm very happy with my athena... there are other kits out there, but the athena is a very good value and is very reliable. If you want to get one talk to paul at advantage cycles, thats where i got mine.

basicly to get the full effect of the big bore you want to get a bigger carb... would it be worth getting a bigger carb without a big bore kit? considering the motor has a port job and cams already. or would it be better at that point to get a big bore kit and carb at the same time?

you will notice a big diffrence without the carb but the carb will be a great upgrade...

the carb will be a great upgrade to the big bore? or to the only ported and camed engine?

the big bore.
the only thing a carb upgrade is really gonna do at any rate is increse the acceleration procces.
adding a FCR is adding a pumper carb so it gives it a shot of fuel when you goose it...
normal mid throttle or top throttle you wont really notice a diffrence.

i see now. i didn't know that you can get a carb for the z with a accel pump. thanks man.

to add to my last post before someone pipes in...

adding a bigger carb does give you more mid to upper power due to it being a bigger bore carb... ie the stock is a 36mm (on a 03 anyways) so upping to a 37mm fcr gives a little more trough but its not a real bid notice atleast not to me anyways...

But i doo feel the acceleration big time... ALOT snappyer off the line.. and every time you snap the throttle...

how do the 440s run with piped and jetted banshees?

Posted by: z400roosteR

Piped and jetted shees are pretty mean man... Can't wait to get my new set up here in a month though!!

My athena can keep up with a mildly modded shee until I hit 5th. The 2 strokes going to beat you in top end unless you do some radical gearing changes.

Ditto.. Short gearing is a pain when racing 2 strokes and yfz's
