i have a 2004 yfz450 and i just got it i rode it for a couple hours pretty hard and never heard or seen the fan kick on....

how do i know if the fan is even working!!??????

is there something i can test?

let it idle for awhile, it should be on withing a few minutes. the fan is mostly used at low speed to keep air flowing, so if u are going at a considerably fast speed, the fan is unneeded.

Through 2 poker runs,and riding this whole summer.My fan has only came on once.That was when i was trail riding and got stuck behind a slow poke for a while(couldn't get out of 1st gear).It came on and ran for about a minute or so then shut off.Hasnt ran since.
