OK!! Guys!I am installing a trx 450r motor on my 2002 Roll Design lobo frame!the problem Iam finding is that it sits real high on the frame,it wil be hard to install the gas tank.Any suggestions?????

I have install .100 washer spacers under the rear fuel tank mounts on the 400ex/yz conversions.
Helps keep the petcock fuel line off the top of the carb...
Hope that helped, are you needing more room ???

Try a 2000 CR80 gas petcock if you are having problems fitting the tank. This moves the on off switch under the tank and has a lower profile then the stock 250R petcock. Might give you the room you need.

Well, I got to install the swingarm bolt thru the motor, but now I have no room to install the carb on the motor!?!?!?might have cut the shock stay to make room, what a pain in the *****$$$$ this has been!

Also will have to cut he swingarm cause the 250r I had did not go thru the arm,had a separate rear bolt!

sorry to say this but IMO I would not cut, weld or do anything to that chassis. Do you realize how rare these are? plus the original cost was thru the roof. I would leave it a 250R Lobo Chassis and buy a fricken 450.
I would never de-face a lobo chassis, they are the best that was ever made IMO.

actually not really.....if your building a hybrid with the correct frame they will out perform a production bike anyday. when you are trying to do what this guy is then sometimes you have problems.
actually DUC, seems like maybe you should have researched this a little more. putting a 4 stroke motor in a 2 stroke frame usually never works because of the motor heights. most people building hybrids use the 400ex frame for that reason. i have seen pictures of people who have done it and from what ive seen it never comes out good. im sure cutting things that you will need to cut weakens the frame and probably you will affect the handleing as well. the air boot is also a big issue. even on the 400ex frame you need to do some reworking. on all the aftermarket hybrid chassis, the rear shock is moved over to the right slightly to make it work.
it seems you have already started cutting this chassis apart so it looks like there is no turning back now....good luck.

Yes! you are correct, the frame is different than the 4 strokes and yes it is going to be weaker than when it was built and yes I may be defacing a work of art!(roll design) and it will be a pain in the ###@@@!
BUT!! when it is done, this will be a awsome quad, great chassis great motor and having all the good components this will be one sweet hybrid.
Sorry guys for defacing a classic, this bike was my dream bike, but the 2stroke days are pretty much over and for the riding I do it will work perfect.
Maybe if things go well I will race it in the baja 500!!!!
'Beat to fit!
Paint to match!!

These lobo chassis were so expensive back in the days , your cutting it and ''fitting'' a trx motor in it ?? Id never do such a thing , I know someone who put a crf in a LSR 250r frame and its ugly for sure.
Heres Jasmin plante walsh CRF that he used to race the nationals with in 03.
