Will a 400ex swingarm fit on a 300ex and if it does will I have to use the 400ex carrier?

As said in other threads the 250r, 350x, 400ex, and 450r swingarms will fit a 300ex, with the use of some washers. The 300ex carrier can't be used because it's narrower than the others.
