Instead of spending 30 bux for a battery tender...could a person just take a wal wart adapter that puts out 12 volts at 1 amp and hook that up directly to the battery ?

Get on of the float chargers from Harborfreight. You can find them on sale there for 3.49 sometimes. I bought six of them last time I ordered from there and they work great.

The next step would be to hardwire a plug to the battery then just plug the tender in when needed.
