The kickstart kit is prob. one of the best things to do for the YFZ, you woulnt be dissapointed.

Reliabilty is what i like about them, and why most of my YFZ's get them. You'll understand when you DNF a race because a battery related issue

Never had any of mine run better after the kicker was installed, that something i dont think your gonna see. As far as weight, if you do the install to elimate the battery and related parts, fan, un needed pats of harness(which is alot) and all the other little things, youd be surprised with how much weight you will loose. But again reliablity is the best factor with them!

I would say about 15 pounds between the battery , the extra wiring, starter and internal gears.

It also lets it rev faster after removing the internal e start gears.

I ahve the kickstart kit already . just the kicker and the internals you need to put in ur sidecase. But how much all together would it cost to do everything right like send ur harness have it done and vereything else that you cant do yourself.

So just to make it clear can someone tell me whether it is possible to simply buy all the internal kick start OEM parts from WR 450 bike and a YZ 250 lever and simply fit all this into your YFZ rather than buying the GYTR kit? Thanks

ya MOTO49X can you just buy that 90 dollar kit then go get a kick lever and thats it or is there more. Because i know the gytr kit runs pretty high.

Thats all you need.

A hot start kit is another 20 + the lever or so if you want it.

The starter block off is about 20 also.

Can you explain what is that starter block off thing is all about? Is it just a simple plug? And also hot start? How do you install this?
GYTR runs so high cause it includes this huge aluminium thing that you bolt on, shaving your rear fender, to allow that lever to move freely!

The hot start cable hooks up to the plunger under the plastic cap on top of your carb. The hot start kit comes with the cable and a replace ment cap that lets the cable go through. There is a rubber boot that comes on the yzf bikes, that dosent come with the kit I had to buy seperate. Its also a good idea to use an aluminumhot start cap on the carb. The plastic ones don't hold up that well.

You do not need to purchase the billet block off plug. The black plug you remove from the case(where kicker will go) will work on the starter side also. Does the same job, just not billet.

You will be fine without the hotstart also. I didnt put hotstarts on any of my kickstart YFZ's, they all start easy when cold or even hot. However, it wouldnt hurt if you put the hotstart on though.

You have it confused with a decompression lever.
The Hot start goes to the carburetor. Like jrspawn said its not necessary, but it does come in handy on a hot day if you stall it during a race.

Thats all you need. You can just take the battery out, unless you want to keep your fan. Or there is a capicator you can buy to run the fan with the battery out.

I had my harness trimmed to get rid of all the other stuff I didn't want also. Like the fan, tors, and lights.

If you are looking to cut back on your wire harness give Kevin a call at Lost Creek Cycles, he sponsors pro jason dunkleburger, kevin eliminates all the unneeded wires.If you are having Battery problems on your quads aftr eliminating your lights especially on 2004, call him 717-463-9173. ok i have an 04 and if i got the kit and eliminated the bat all i would need was the gytr kick start kit the block off plug and the hot start lever and thats it correct? or will i need anything for the fan and lights and such cuz i wana ride on the trails and sometimes its dark out. thanks

Yeah, It just stores some extra juice to run the fan when its needed.

I would imagine it would come with directions on how to mount it.
