can anyone help me find a website that that has works suspension for good deals thanx

Posted by: red4ever

aftermarket suspension is a waste of money on a 250ex the best thing to do would probably be to get 300ex shocks. from what i heard they bolt up pretty easy

Posted by: 250exkid3

i have the money though n im gona stick wit my 250 for a while im just soupin it up like crazy u sure i shouldnt get them

Posted by: hillclimbingrec

dude,i got 300ex suspension on my recon..best mod ever even my big gun is 2nd beat compaired to it!

Posted by: dman250

Ive got works on mine. dont no what 300 shocks are like guess they would be about the same. I like the works though get the best deal

300ex shocks suck too get the works

new shocks on a 250ex would be more like solving a problem than an upgrade in the sense that the front shocks bottom out over any decent sized jump and the little 250 is gonna continue to disappoint unless you dump insane amounts of money into it so you could get new suspension all around for $150 or get name brand aftermarket suspension on an underpowered and tippy little 229 that costs 3800 new

dude, listen. I have 2002-2004 300ex shocks(forgot what year) and they ROCK! before,EVERY time i would go off a jump and get nore than three foot of air,my quad would bottom out, bounce back up in the air and so on. but know with the 300ex shocks,i can go at LEAST 6feet high(highest i've ever been) and didnt bottom out...... on a FLAT landing. And before with the stock suspenion i would feel EVERY bump, rock, root, rut, log, etc on the trail, and it SUCKED to be going fast,iw ould get a REAL jarring ride, but know with the 300ex shocks i can FLY through the woods, and know my freinds on the 450's dont have to wait for me to catch up. PLUS! i got mine off a freind for 50.bucks!! so around 100 bucks for 300ex front and rear, pretty good deal if you ask me. But this has totaly made my quad a whole new one. BUT since the 300ex shocks are built stiffer and dont sag like the 250ex/recon ones, it raises your ride height, but this can be resolved by wither flipping the rims and getting fluch mout stems, OR get off set rims like i did, or spacer's..... your choice. But i would HIGHLEY recomend these 300ex shocks, front and rear. They do EVERYTHING better, jump, corner, fly through the woods. Everything... if you have questions..just ask.

will the stock mounts for the rear shock fit a 300 shock

Posted by: red4ever

how much goes into installing the 300 shocks and how much more tippy does it make it with stock width? if i can get some for 100-150 i relly need them. everytime i go to badlands i end up overshooting a tabletop and dropping 7 feet out of the air i go home with black rings around my wrists and im ****ing sick of it

Can the 300ex shock be revalved,. or resprung. I am looking into for my GF's 250ex. But she it fairly light weight.

Posted by: atvfrk10

I dont know much about stock 300 shcoks but I would get works shocks, you can get them valved for your wieght so you wont bottom out, but still get a nice ride. Spend a little more and get whats for your quad. I have a 250 and have front works and it makes a huge differance and would be better then 300ex shocks cause there at least adjustable.

Posted by: hillclimbingrec

look, go ahead if you wanna spend the extra moola on works, they are great shocks, but i'm telling ya, if you dont wanna blow alot of money,300 ex shocks are the way to go. and they work on the stock mounts front and back

Posted by: 250exkid3

ya im gona get back and front works for like 1300 my mom has a 300ex and i hate the shocks on it

Posted by: ryanh250ex

since we've discovered that 300ex shocks do in fact fit, why not go all out and get works shocks for a 300ex?

Posted by: atvfrk10

cause the works 250ex's shock would work better since its set up for the weight and geometry of a 250ex

Posted by: hillclimbingrec

true^^ but all i know is i LOVE my 300ex shocks

and what type of works shock did u have atvfrk?? thye look HUGE!

Posted by: atvfrk10

yea me talking about using the right shocks for the right quad, lol

mine are z400 triple rate shocks. The only reason I got those was because thats what the widening kit calls for.

Posted by: hillclimbingrec

how did that diamond j customs kit hold up? how wide did it make it?

Posted by: m.h.s.c.#527

dude never waste your money on works they are a good deal but elka is way better i think its only a little more to get elka

Posted by: hillclimbingrec

may we se a pic of your 250?^^^

Posted by: 250exkid3

last time I checked Elka doesnt make shocks for the 250ex.

Posted by: atvfrk10

Elka makes shocks for the 250ex, they make them for everything.

The widing holds up good, but I'd suggest wider a-arms way before the widening kit. I think its ASR that make them and there not much more then the widening kit

Posted by: hillclimbingrec

Posted by: 250exkid3

ya but i dont want to get a arms i have to get them to get elkas though right?

Posted by: 250exkid3

i dont think so maybe

Elka does make 250ex shocks for stock a-arms too.

Posted by: 250exkid3

post website plz

Posted by: BlasterEaten250

I saw it in an old atv action magazine. They had a project 250ex.

Posted by: 250exkid3

it proboly took them ours to get the shocks on though it proboly didnt fit and they just rigged it because ive gone to at least 20 websites and all they have is works for 250exs

Posted by: m.h.s.c.#527

go to elkasuspension.com and its under 250x butit shows a pic 4 250ex and john my sponsor rep sells a $hit load of them and i have them

Hillclimbingrec -
Did you have to modify the front lower shock mount? I just got a set of 2007 300ex fronts for my 2006ex, but the bottom eye is about 1/4 inch too wide. I'm thinking about prying the bottom mount open to accomodate the larger eye, but not sure if it will weaken the mount.

Posted by: m.h.s.c.#527

well thats the prob im havin with the elkas and idk the r sending me smaller eyes so we will c i will post when i get the new spacers

Posted by: BlasterEaten250

I hear that if you put a 300ex shock on the back of the 250 you have to drill the shock mounts a little bit bigger. I am actually trying to get a 300ex rear shock, I'll let you guys know when I get one what exactly I had to do to mount it.

Posted by: m.h.s.c.#527

yea i hears that 2 do u have to with the 660 shock

Posted by: 02silverpile

Does anyone know if the 300ex shock is any softer than the 250ex shock? Or is the advantage of the 300ex shock is the sdjustment of it? Im just thinking if its adjustable over the 250ex, then why not get 300 shocks and have new spring placed on them.

Posted by: m.h.s.c.#527

heres my elkas
