hey guys

im about to go to a hybrid and have the choice of a standard 03 yz450 motor or a 426 bored to 440 with porting and vortex ignition etc,basically a race motor. which one would you guys go for? i race mx and want to be competitive at a local level.

what about the 4speed box compared to the 426's 5 speed which one is the best?

it would really depend on you riding style....i have had both and the 450 power is smoother and the gears are longer with the 4 speed....

with the 450 i like the fact that i don't have to shift as much....and the power delivery fits me better as i have problems with arm pumping....but you gotta love the hit of the 426 just makes me too tired...plus the 450 is starts easier for me

The 450 may be a bit'faster in all out power but it feels between gears at times to me.A stock 426 in a decent state of tune will be ALL the power you want and need on a mx track.I love my 426
