Sportsman stuck in NEUTRAL

i was ridin my dads 99 polaris sportsman 335 4x4 w/ IRS in the mud today i came upt o the barn to park and i put it into Neutral and then open the door when i cam bac the shifter to shift into Reverse/Netural/high/ and low wouldnt move. i didnt hear any noise or any grindin i tried and tried to move the shifter bac and forth but i didnt want to break the rod to the transmisson or anythin
wat is it?? please help!!

If you take off the side panel, remove the bolts that hold the shifter in place. Pull it out and it will more then likely come unbound. With the shifter out move the linkage back and forth and just reinstall the shifter. After the shifter gets so much wear on it through the years it may have extra slop to let that happen.
