What "vibration issue" and how did they fix it?

the vibration issue is not that severe any racer who had the motor built prolly had a balaced crank or had their crank balaced and that is recomended for any 450 motor to true and balance it esspecially if your turning high rmps alot. but the 07 is the way to go definately if your going to build a motor or race it.

The early build 06's vibrate enough at high revs to be very noticable.I've ridden 3 early build YFZ's and all had it.The two end of year ones I rode didnt. If your just running MX it wont be noticed much but hold it wide open for more than a few seconds and it is a issue for some races and trail riding.I ran the R.A.C.E. in Morrison,Ill last year and in the wide open 5th gear fields I couldnt hang tight on bars because of vibration. At first I thought it was just the ground doing it but after doing the comparisons getting right off mine and onto newer ones it was definitly the motor causing it.

That must be why I never noticed it on our 2 '06 YFZ's. They are both "later year" models.

07' definietly, there has been so many problems with my friends 06. It was stock but whenever he would go over little jumps the frame would bend. I've ridin' my other friends brand new yellow 07' and it is basically bullet proof. So much better than the 06'. Go for it, it's worht the money

I think the frame is the same on the '06 and '07. Sounds like he may have a much larger problem elsewhere if he is bending frames. For what it's worth, my '07 has a fair amount of vibration in the bars. The Pro-Tapers help but do not eliminate it all together.

no i read it in dirt wheels magazine that 07' has the reinforced frame, and it way better than the 06' frame because other people have been complaining about the same problem my friend has.

Thats dissappointing to hear.I just assumed since the 2 late 06's I rode didnt have the vibration that the 07's wouldnt either. It must just be a hit or miss thing.I also never heard of any frame differences but will take a look.Only guys cracking older frames are hardcore riders and most of them do reinforce them.A little jump isnt going to do it unless something is wrong with the suspension.

whats this frame breaking issue? i only have one more month until i get a new quad and im leaning towards a 06 yfz

Posted by: BigMike

I'll have to take your word that the frames are different. The Dirt Wheels 11/06 test of the '07 YFZ does not mention any frame mods. If frames breaking were a real issue, it would be plastered all over these boards. Go to the Suzuki forum and do a search for "frame" and you will see what I mean.

As far as the vibration goes, it does not feel anything like what you are describing and in no way hinders your ability to hang on to the quad. I came off of an '05 400EX which was very smooth throughout the entire rev range. I am sure the YFZ will smooth out a little once it is broken in.

You maybe got one that doesnt have the vibration.Like I said I rode two that didnt have it 3 that did.3 that did it was also noticable in footpegs.Dont get me wrong its not that often it becomes a factor but it could be better.I still really love the suspension, ergos and power my YFZ has and would still buy with or without vibration.Reason for talking about it is I thought they fixed issue in all late run 06's and 07's.

I hear ya. If you are ever in Florida, feel free to look me up and take a ride. I have nothing to compare it to other than my 400EX.
