Best bike for motocross?

Im looking to buy a sport atv ( i now have a brute force 750) and get into motocross racing. Im obviously biased toward the yfz450. I would just like to know what is the best moto-x ready bike out of the box for me to get. That means, least amount of mods to get me on the track and going. I have plenty of experience on atvs, im 17 and 6 foot tall.

yea i own an 06 yfz and straight out the box the ltr for sure but the yfz isnt a bad choice but the sounds of your circumstance the ltr is the way to go for you

As much as I hate to say it, the LTR is the bike for MX when taking the it from the dealer to the track.

the LT-R 450 is the best right out of the box and the YFZ 450's are also geat too

thanks guys, great forum you got here. I was on HighLifter for about three years, then started a forum of my own for a year or so, and then I just kinda steered away from the atv scene for about 2 years. So i got a little behind and didnt know what was top dog anymore.

i dont know if i would call the LTR the top dog, but beings how it is already wide, i could see where people would say it is the best from the dealer to the track...

yeah def, but coming from my yamaha, i can go faster on a stock yfz than stock ltr, ....and im a firm beleiver in the fact that if your gonan race, your going to need a arms and shocks on either bike, my yfz rides like a dream compared to the ltr with the suspension setup pretty close for me

i would go with the yfz. i mean just buy sum std travel housers or sumpthin, the shocks get very plush with the extra width. that what i would do.

They are all the same with the exception of the Suzuki's width. The Suzuki cost more to start sooping up because you will spend "I think" around $800 for the stuff to adjust the fuel injection plus a bunch are having bottom-end problems. The main financial difference in the Honda and Yamaha is that the Yamaha has 5 valves and 2 cams where the Honda has 4 valves and 1 cam..Cheaper to replace. The Yamaha motors are cheaper to start hopping-up but if something goes bad there is more to fix in the head. Both the Honda and Yamaha are really nice. The Suzuki to me is if'y. I'd take one of each for a spin and see which I liked best. Ride NEW ones at a dealership. From personal expirience the Yamaha motor has a lot of potential for less money than the rest.

ridenfast , if you're not loaded with money to dump into a bike don't take a whole lot of advice from someone who does unless you know them well.
