I used to have a 1999 Mojave. It had the purple seat and and grill kinda like your 1991
Posted by: mfr440
My Mojave is a 2003 that I received last Christmas. It had maybe 8 hours on it when I got it! I rode at the Badlands at Attica, IN, Silver Lake and the "Little 'O'" in Michigan. GREAT TIMES!!
Here I am on top of Test Hill, the largest dune at Silver Lake:

Its not the mojave but it is its brother. LOL.
Posted by: jonboy
This is what it looked a month or so ago. Now it has some 400ex rear hubs with 9" wheels and kenda knarlys on it.
Posted by: Rusty91o
I think one of the things I liked best about the Mojave was that it came with heel guards. And not the crappy plastics ones either.
Posted by: jonboy
Well I got bored so I took some pics. Here it is with the new hubs wheels and tires. I also put a 400ex carb, thumb throttle and cable on it. It woke it up quite a bit with that DG pipe.

I don't have any action shots...I'll hopefully get some this year if my mom stop being nervous and take some pics lol. I welded brakets on the front and just got a shorter, more adjustable shock for the back.

those things should mean nothing. i have a great looking mojave here and that doesnt take in to accout that it has after market hand guards, duel rate front shocks, dg nerf bars, custom bumper mounts and an aluminum bumper, 4 new tires, re conditioned plastics, rebuilt rear caliper, new axle bearings, new wheel bearings and all the other work done to it. nor does it take into account that it was owned and used by 2 mechanics who took verry good care of it. it doesnt take into account that it was used about once a month for wheelies, field riding and dirt trails, not racing. it couldnt have been abused, i had it for over 3 years, i never flipped it, its still on the stock bars (not bent) and no cracks in any of the the original plastics, not even any scraches on the stock chrome grab bar!!!
so now that site is saying that my 96 mojave which had "extensive wear and tear" and i had to "invest in cosmetic and/or mechanical work." (Low Retail Value according to that site) is worth $825 (and average retail is $1085)
thats more than my close to perfect 91 mojave which AVERAGE RETAIL is only $730?
according to that site this mojave (the 96 that needs cosmetic and mechanical work) is worth $95 more than this mojave?
its bull
not to mention that site adds $15 for an aftermarket exhaust. the pipe i have on my mojave goes for over $100 on ebay used!
if you look at a used 92 mojave, it is $85 more than a 91 JUST BECAUSE ITS 1 YEAR NEWER!1!!
its crap and judging what price an atv should be based on its year it the stupidest thing i ever heard
Posted by: elmer91
i agree. mine is an 88 and it runs strong. people always pass it up because of the year. look at bike and the running condition before the year.
Posted by: redgreen_parker
i also agree...when i tried to sell my 89 no one wanted it...and i mean this thing was as close to perfect as you'd probably find for the year.

that is insane, i have never seen a kx250 engine put into any air cooled atv, putting a liquid cooled engine in an air cooled frame is a tuff one, i have seen good ones but i have deffinitly seen more bad ones. it is definitly not easy props to whoever did that

This was kinda like a pond bank at a xc race, someone got a photo of the landing when I cased it but can't find it.

Put a smoothie hood on the Lakota
Posted by: 01exrider 281
I dont feel like making a thread so I will post my question here. Are the mojave's better than a 300ex stock for stock? When modded are they comparable? So just let me know how power and handeling compare between the two.
Thanks
Posted by: jonboy
With a few simple mods the Mojo will spank a 300ex but in my opinion the suspension on the 300ex is better and parts availability is better for the 300ex. The Mojo is more nimble on the trails and can make for one hell of a drag quad. It all depends on your riding style.
Posted by: 01exrider 281
thanks i was just curious bc i never rode one or knew anyone that had one.

heres anothrt pic of mine, and it will definately spank a 300ex with ease.
the horsepower has over doubled on it and it very fast!!!!

No he only lurks around on his own site lol. I'm sure his drag Mojave was faster than mine by farrrrr, and his TT Mojave was faster than mine on a TT track, and I'm sure his MX/XC would smoke my Mojave in that type of racing. So mine obviously wasn't the fastest haha. However, it did run damn good for a Mojave

Ok I have to ask about that headpipe and silencer
Posted by: Flyracer219
the pipe was built my my mechanic and is full system.
He now builds pipes for 450s and trys new stuff all the time.
he built dual exhaust for a 450r and they look unreal.
This thing will scream though, its probably no lie the loudest quad i have ever heard and i live around quads and race so ive heard a bunch lol.
but it was cuztom built and the first one he ever built
Posted by: weld_13
it reminds me of a tc shorty or something

Well from what I've heard the full tunable supertrapp is one of the best ones out there, but talk to greg over at www.cycleworksracing.net to find out all the mojave stuff for what you're running, no sense in getting an exhaust that's made for a full out big bore when you're only running an air filter and exhaust ya know?
Do you mean smoothie or screened? That's really a personal thing, the smoothie looks better but the screened has the airflow to it
