ok pretty new to this bike just bought it...
my questioin is how to check the oil on my yfz450?

i see the plus on the oil tank and its full...
then i see a plug on the side of the motor case but no dipstick...

is this 2 dif compartments?

meaning should i beable to see oil once i take off the plus on the SIDE of the CASE???


how do i make sure theres oil in my machince...????

im know im buying a manual but it didnt get here yet!

plus i wanted to know how to do a oil change on it?

how much goes in the tank and how much in the motor?

Drain the engine and the tank in front on the engine. Remove the oil filter on the other side of engine. Replace the filter and your drain plugs. 1 qt. in the engine and 1 qt. in the tank. this will put the oil level just above full before starting.


I check mine by starting the bike for a couple minutes when its completely cold. Start it, let it idle for 2 minutes or so, shut it off. This is the way I've been checking mine for 2 years and no problems yet.
