Stock shock.. put it on a stand so the shock is extended fully. Minimizing the pressure on the spring.
At the top of the spring you'll see a notched collar. You turn this to the pre-set positions. Taller part is more pre-load. Shorter part is less pre-load. If you have some muscle you can pull down and give her a twist by hand. Not easy. Much easier on the lighter fronts to do.
Another way I used to do it.. was put the quad back on the ground. Take a tie down and hook it the the spring as far up as possible, loop under the swinger, hook to the other side. Then put it back up on the stand. Should releive most of the spring pressure making it easy to turn.
Or you could get a spanner wrench.. but that's not redneck enough.. lol.

I had it up on a stand and dropped the swingarm and there still seemed to be a ****load of tension on the spring. I can see at the top how it needed to be turned, but I couldn't break it loose. I guess I'll just get a spanner wrench.
