Tire ?

I was thinking of getting some new tires for my KQ. I ride trails alot, ride in snow alot(ice fishing) and would like the tire to still be somewhat decent in the mud. I was thinking of trying the 28" High Lifter Outlaws MST. Just wondering if anyone had any input on these tires or maybe some other ones to look into. THanks.

I was also considering the Maxxis Bighorns but I heard they dont work to well in the mud.

well i dont think you need to go as big as 28s, I have 27s on mine and they rub everyonce in a while. I would suggest 27's at the most, and for trail ridding and the condittions you said you ride in, a good set of 26s would do fine, get the outlaws in 26s and let me knoe how they are.
here is a pic of mine with 27 excavtors

I will be racing XC but I am going with 25 inch Bighorns.
If you ride more trails then technical trails and mud I would think 26s would be fine. Also remember the bigger the tire the slower you quad and the more stress there is on steering and drive train.
The bighorns are not bad in mud. Anything is better then stock. For trails I would not get a all out mud tire.

DON't get a out law tire we bought those for our rincon when we first got it...it was like riding up the stairs ALL the time u kept feeling the knobs on the ground

maxxis bighorn is by far the best tire

I think I have narrowed it down to 26" tire with 14" rim in either ITP terracross or the Maxxis big horns.

Take a look at the maxxis all traks. (not the sur tracs) They look kinda like a nobby I ended up going with them. I like them very much. They are also almost 8 lbs lighter per tire then the big horns

anyone have the terra cross tires yet? My room mate has a kq 700 and he's looking at thos for a tire, but we're curious to see if anyone had some input on them. I keep telling him Big Horns but he wants something lighter. He will either stay with 25s or go to a 26. Thanks

I was wondering the same thing about the terracross, but they are still pretty new.

I have decided to go with the Bighorns. The only question I have is how wide will it be with the 25" in the 10" width as opposed to the 26"s in the 12" width. Both options are with the ITP SS108's. I need to be 48" or under to fit through some of the gates on the trails (48" max. width in WI). Any help is greatly appericated!!

Yes, "Lifetime structural warranty: If you bend or break it ITP will replace it!"
Posted by: firefighterjosh
I think I found my self a low cost race rim

For the warranty you get you cant hardly go wrong. The only rim that might work better for racing is the sport lock. Its not a true beadlock but it will protect the bead better and strengthen the wheel. Heres a pic, I think its around $30 more a wheel.

I thought about that one but my stockers made it threw a season without too many problems. So I will be alright without anything else.
Maybe someday I will get Hyper's if I ever get that good

Thanks for the compliements.
I got the kit from Rocky Mountain ATV, I searched and called alot of places and they were the cheapest and they have great service after the sale!
I am from Seymour, its about 20 minutes west of Green Bay. We ride the trails systems near the Mountain area. Where are you from and where do you ride?

Thanks, I might give them a call to get some .. love the looks on the KQ.
I ride mostly BRF/Clark County and Hurley. Last year our group rode Hurley. Had about 25 riders. this year we will probably return to BRF.
Have you had a chance to ride the quad with the new rubber? how does it perform.
Posted by: 4trax250x81
I havent had a good chance to ride with them yet, with my work schedule and all the rain we have been getting, I need a snorkel kit just to go for a ride!
