My Son cracked his Plastic on the corners below the tank under the seat, any kits out there to weld or bond this together?

I have heard of plastic welders and expoxy kits also

At my last job I use to weld plastic containers together for the post office. Out tools looked just like the ones that rocky mountain sells. All it is, is a soldering iron and you melt the plastic sticks (they look like thick zip ties) into the crack. It works pretty good but looks butt ugly.

I would rather buy new plastics then try and weld mine together. Unless you dont care about looks...

There is a real plastic welder almost like the harbor freight one but heavy duty.
The hand piece looks like a tig or mig gas hand piece with hose & regulator but only has hot air comming out. Works like brazing but with a plastic filler rod. Need a compressor as well.
The key useing this welder & getting a good bond is getting the proper plastic filler rod to match the fender plastic.
You could, if you had some junk fenders, cut a piece off & melt,,weld the fenders back together with it, that way the plastic filler would match.
I think Mcmaster carr has them & Enco tool, not to cheap though.

Harbar Freight has them for 30 bucks, thats why I need to know what is the stock plastic (PVC, P-P, Not ABS) the rod are in 3 colors Wht-ABS Grey-PVC Grn-Poly Propolene http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ct...temnumber=41602

The welder from Rockymountain which seems to be more specifically for MC's and ATV's says PE not abs or pvc or pp. I used to work at Sterilite, nothing but inj molded plastics . No body parts are going to be ABS and I truly doubt any will be PVC. If it is stamped, it prob will be PE low impact and if it is inj molded it will prob be PP low density, with a little low impact for flexibility and cold weather survival.

I've got the one that Rocky Mountain sells, and I have used it successfully several times.

When I was first searching, I beleive most stock plastic is polyethylene, but I think the Maier Shiny plastics are polypropylene. This is just coming from memory, so I could be wrong.

The end result isn't pretty, but it looks a whole lot better than broken plastics, and also a whole lot better than drilling holes and using zip-ties. It's also pretty strong, I haven't had any of my plastic welds break.

The heat control on that model isn't all the best, the temperature will fluctuate and occasionally get hot enough to slightly burn the plastic, but I never really cared. It's more of a discoloration than a true burn, it still seems to adhere and bond just fine. So it's got a few dark spots, who cares. If I wanted it to look pretty, I would have forked out the money for new plastics instead of going the cheap route.
