like the title says, i notice like with the 400ex theres a specific way
to add/ change oil
an i was just wondering if this holds true with a 300ex

i just add about a quart and a half and get it to the line then let it idle for like 10 minutes then add more if needed

When I change the oil on my 300 I drain the oil and remove the filter cover and filter. Then I disconnect the spark plug wire and turn over the engine 2-3 times for about 5-10 seconds. This gets some of the excesss dirty oil out of the tranny. Then I put in the new filter and drain plug and top it off with fresh oil. (manual says 1.69 quarts) I usually do like you said and put about 1 1/2 quarts and run it, then check and add as needed.
