my nuetral light goes on when i pull in the clutch in. also theres no "spring" until the clutch is half way in. why is this?

Well the easiest, and first, things I would check are: 1. Is your clutch cable adjusted properly? 2. Is your neutral "plug" loose (it plugs into the engine case near the shifter? 3. Is your clutch cable old and possibly stretched beyond spec? I have had all three of these scenarios occur to my 400ex at one time or another and these three steps solved them each time. Of course it is possible your clutch is going out but I would check the easier things (as listed above) first. My 400's neutral light pretty much came on and went off whenever it felt like it, which was a direct result of the plug gaining and losing its connection at different points. It will not hurt anything but I understand your annoyance.

to get the nuetral; light to work you take it off thhen clean it out real goo load it up with dieletric grease then take needlenose vise grips and get it real tight and you nuetal light will always work good! mine did!:devil

Be careful when re-attaching the neutral plug because my buddy damaged his when he reattached it (he crushed the plug) - the connectivity was never the same.
