Is there a CR250 or some other head gasket I could use on an 85 250r for a compression bump? I've heard an 86-89 CR250 gasket does this. Can someone confirm?

that is correct. I had a cr 250 on ine and was running 210 psi and then switched to a stock thickness, and had about 175 psi. But yes it does fit.

cool, thanks

even more compression can be had if ya use the three layer OEM trx gasket and take it apart. use the thinner of the three.

I thought the one layer of the stock, was the same thickness as the CR.
Also you want the metal gasket and not the other gasket, which is the stock one. The cometic isn't metal.

the cr gasket is tad bit thicker than the thinnest layer of the trx three layer gasket.

Use an 89 CR250 Thats wut I used and thats the size you need for all 250r's.

Or you could try and find a orginal 85 atc gasket

The Cometic gasket is .040" thick, what is the CR head gaasket thickness? I have a metal CR Gasket but its 0.011" thick way to thin, I would liek to be about .020 to 024" thickness to get to about 175 to 180 compression .any awnswers would be great!

what compression are you running with the CR gasket?

Posted by: ERBE

Havent used it, its way too thin.

what setup do you have? bore size, head, dome size ect ect.....

Posted by: Scott-300ex

I measured CR gasket with dial calipers before I put mine on.

.014

..... and the thinnest layer of a 3 layer metal gasket is .009 - .010.

why is it ? check your squish to find out .my head is milled down AND im using the thin part of the 3 piece and still have .045 or more squish. a little modeling clay or solder can go a long way . they rip when the head design and squish are set correctly.good luck !!
