I'm looking at buying my first bike and I don't want to buy brand new to start with. I'm 6' 185, so I don't think I want anything smaller than a 300 I guess. A guy I work with is selling an 00 or 01 300ex in near mint condition. He bought it for his wife who never rode it, so it just sat garaged. It starts and runs great, has a new battery, aftermarket swingarm skid and bumpers, modified reverse (foot lever) Still has the stock tires with like 75% tread on them. Everything is still in tact and working and the plastics are barely scratched. He is asking $2500 firm. Does that sound about right or a little high or what? I see them going online for no more than $2000 really, but they could be beat to crap. I even see 400s going for less than that. So what do you all think?

to me it sounds a little high.i would start a 2000 and work ur way up.haggle him a little.

my buddy bought one in simalier condition last week for 1800 and it was an 02... id say it had 23hours on it if you have 2500 to spend i would say go with a 400... you could even find a z400 in that price range if reverse is a factor... 300s are real nice bikes.. im currently swapping a 350x motor into mine.. but you will get bored with the 300 faster then you would with the 400 but i would also reccomend you try riding one of each before you make your descion... that is my 2 cents

I guess I should also mention that I'm on Long Island NY, so that might be a factor in the price.

2k - 2500 seems like a good price. Seems like all the 300ex's in my area rarely go below 2k if in good shape
