any one ever strip the long oil filter bolt or one of the head bolts that like 5 in.
any ideas on how to fix without taking case off or head off would be awesome

Get a tap. I forget the name, you hit it with a hammer and it twists, for strppied or rusted bolts.

sorry thats not what i meant
i mean the threads are in the case or head are stripped out

you can fix it with a 6mm tap

I did the same thing when I had a 400ex. I just tapped it out and put a heliocoil in it.

^^^^^ did the same

I had a stripped out oil filter bolt, went to hardware store and got same dia and thread size only 1/4 inch longer (its 6mm by 1.0 thread pitch). the longer bolt was able to reach some threads that hadnt been stripped out.

To use a Helicoil, you have to gain access to the threads themselves, drill it out with the reccommended size bit, and install helicoil with the appropriate tool. this means you would have to pull the side case cover on the oil filter bolt, or pull the valve cover and maybe the head on the valve cover bolt, depending on which one is stripped out.
